Mum Varieties
Garden Mums are so forgiving
that even a child can grow them – and many children get their introduction
to gardening by planting and nurturing Garden Mums. Plan and plant your
own splash of fall color as a family – working together to find just the
right planting spot, creating a garden design and choosing plants that
are as colorful as a box of crayons.
You can purchase garden mums in a variety of sizes, from six-inch pots to three-gallon
containers or hanging baskets. Check for healthy plants with dark green leaf
color, firm leaves, absence of flower and leaf damage, strong stems, and healthy
long white roots.
Belgian Mums are an exciting new type of chrysanthemum with
more blooms per plant than traditional mum varieties. Belgians have more flexible
stems, which mean they’re less susceptible to breakage in windy or exposed areas.
As with other mums, Belgians are available in a large variety of colors. |
