Packaged Roses
Packaged roses (also called "Poly
Bag" roses)
are available only when roses are dormant. Longer days, more sunshine
and warmer soil will quickly "awaken" your planted rose, and
you’ll
enjoy healthy growth and beautiful blooms all season long.
Planting times vary according to the severity of the winter climate in your area.
If winter temperatures don’t regularly fall below 10°F, you can plant your Mea
Roses whenever they become available at your home center or nursery. If winter
temperatures in your area regularly fall to between 10°F and -10°F, plant only
in the early spring or late fall. If the coldest temperature in your region falls
below -10°F, plant your Mea Roses only in the early spring.
Planting Tips
Before planting, soak bare root roses in water for a few hours (but no longer than 24 hours). Keep them in water until you are ready to plant. Trim any roots that have broken. Don’t plant bare root roses on windy winter days or when the temperature may drop below freezing. The combination of low temperatures and drying wind can be fatal to the tender new plants. |
